Raymond Felton holding his annual basketball camp next week – NBA Update
NBA point guard Raymond Felton will be holding his annual camp in Pee Dee this week.
The camp has been annually held at Mullins High School since 2007 in the town named Latta, where Felton went to high school. The one guard was hopeful that his camp will help contribute in unearthing a good talent;
“And hopefully it’ll help one or two of these kids,” Felton said. “There’s a lot of them, you know. You try to reach all of them, but if you can help two or three, I feel like I did my job.”
The purpose of this camp is to help the young kids become active in sports and bring them awareness about education.
Felton who will be a free agent over the summer has been bouncing from one team to another in the past three years. He was a part of the Portland Trail Blazers for the short spanned season of 66 games and has been affiliated with
four different organizing since 2009.
Felton admitted to the frustration of being a traveller, but hoped that he would finally be able to find the right system for himself this summer;
“It’s big and it’s major in the NBA – no question about that,” he said. “I see a lot of guys who are great basketball players get into the wrong system and you never hear about them again. So I think that’s the biggest thing. But
with me being a hard worker and me having the knowledge that I have of the game, I can go pretty much anywhere and play any type of system.”
He did not lay down the verdict on any specific team; he would be joining for the next season but did reveal that the Knicks are a strong option to consider. Along with trip back to the ‘Big Apple’, he hinted that there are several
other organizations which can lure him in which include the likes of Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns and the newly formed Brooklyn Nets.
“You’ve got a lot of teams, you know, different things that can happen,” Felton said. “So we’ll see what happens. You’ve got the draft coming up, and a lot of crazy things can happen during free agency – that’s just the way of
the business.”
