Is this lens any good, i am planning to use it with my panasonic nv-gs230 camcorder. does this lens cause any visible distortion or blackness in the corners of the picture. thanks alot.

The blackness is known as vingetting, it shouldn't so long as you take off any other filters you have on the lens.

You may need to focus manually and refocus after zooming though.
