Is Razidyne (sp) only used for alzheimers and dementia. My husband was given this medicine but he says he has neither disease, but he acts different than he did 6 yrs ago. He said the dr gave it to him to help improve his memory. He has spells he is mean, forgets things, acts childish etc. Just what is the role of razidyne?

Thanks for your help

Is the doctor prescribing this for your husband his primary care doctor?  Perhaps your husband should see a psychiatrist, preferably one that specializes in geriatric psychiatry, as they are most familiar with dementia and it's treatments.  Is your husband possibly in denial?  People with dementia, even mild forms, often get defensive when asked about their memory, etc.  But if he does have dementia, he needs to get treatment asap.  There are 2 drugs on the market (Namenda and Aricept) which both are proven to slow the effects of dementia.  The sooner he starts them (if he's a candidate) the better.  Talk to your husband and your doctor about your concerns.
