Razif Sidek wants to help Badminton Association of Malaysia in the national coaching setup
Razif Sidek, Malaysia’s men’s doubles coach, wants to help the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in its coaching and training setup. He is offering his services on voluntary basis as his chief objective is to stop the gradual downfall of standard in
Malaysian badminton. He wants to work in the category of men’s, women’s and mixed doubles.
Badminton is gradually losing its traditional standard in Malaysia, a country with a rich Badminton culture. Razif wants to modify the training and coaching system and techniques so as to eliminate the shortcomings that are affecting the progress of the
shuttlers.
Razif’s proposal will be discussed in the meeting of BAM which is going to be held on April 28. If he gets his proposal approved, he will be working with James Selvaraj, the High Performance Director, as his deputy. Razif believes that if his services are
needed, he will try to put the progress in the right direction and will assist in producing much better results from the national shuttlers.
Razif also pointed out that Malaysia’s shuttlers are not working in the same way as the other top badminton nations. The progress of Malaysia in this field is trailing China by miles, with China being considered a “powerhouse” of badminton. Razif appreciated
the services of Selvaraj, and acknowledged that he had been doing an excellent job as the High Performance Director.
The coach doesn’t want to take the responsibility as a full time job as he knows that there are many coaches around who are working with the national squad for men’s doubles. He only wants to contribute his advisory services on voluntary basis. He doesn’t
want to get paid by BAM or by any other concerned department as well.
In the meeting of BAM, along with Razif’s proposal for men’s doubles, the responsibilities of Misbun Sidek will also be discussed for the category of men’s singles. It seems that a completely new setup will be introduced in the training and coaching department.
This is the only way to overcome the deficiencies in the system, which are affecting the performances of both, the coaches and the players.
