ODI series between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe was always going to be an interesting one as both the teams have shown tremendous fighting spirit off-late. 1st match of the 5 match series was a cliff-hanger when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 defeated Bangladesh by 9 runs.
But the hosts bounced back in the series by beating Zimbabwe by 6 wickets in the second ODI.
Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak and Captain Shakib al Hassan combined to set up a thumping victory in the match which was complimented well by Raqibul Hassan’s batting.
Bangladesh won the toss and chose to field first once again. Zimbabwe played an unchanged team from the 1st ODI, whereas, the home team made 1 change which came in the shape of Muhammad Ashraful, who made way for the middle-order batsman Raqibul
Hassan.
Zimbabwe was all out in the 47th over for 191 runs. Majority of the Zimbabwean batsmen took starts but failed to convert them into big runs. Just like the 1st ODI, fast bowlers were not that effective on this slow track and went for
plenty of runs, taking into account that it was a low-scoring match. But Bangladesh made inroads into the Zimbabwean batting line-up through its spinners. Normally the spinners just come in the middle-overs and stop the flow of runs but this time Bangladesh
used its spinners to get wickets.
Left-handed middle order batsman, Craig Ervine was the top-scorer with 42 off 41 deliveries and played well against the spinners and remained unbeaten. His innings included 4 boundaries.
28-year-old left-arm spinner, Abdur Razzak was the star for Bangladesh as he took his 3rd 5-wicket haul of the career. Razzak gave away only 30 runs in 9.2 overs for his 5 wickets. Skipper Shakib Al Hassan made an impact on the match once again
with 4 crucial wickets for just 39 runs in his 9 overs. Bangladeshi fast bowlers bowled only 8 overs in the entire innings.
In reply, Bangladesh needed 192 runs to level the series and were off to a good start through their prolific opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamim-Iqbal-c2640.
He made 44 runs off only 48 balls which included 5 fours and 2 sixes. That was exactly the start Bangladeshis were looking for in order to chase down a low score. After Tamim’s departure, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Junaid-Siddique-c1749 and Raqibul Hassan played responsibly and accumulated
72 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Left hander Siddique made 53 off 83 balls with 4 fours and a towering six. On the other hand, Raqibul Hassan who was drafted in the side for the 2nd ODI justified his selection through a well-made 65 off 79 balls and remained the top-scorer for
Bangladesh. He struck 6 fours and a six.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Price-c82662 took 2 wickets for Zimbabwe after giving away 41 runs.
Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak was named as the Man of the Match for his match-winning spell.
With the series level at 1-1, the 3rd ODI on 6 December promises to be another interesting encounter. We have to give credit to both the teams as they are providing us entertainment even on slow and low wickets. But this is a good practice for
the teams for the world cup ahead.
