I have a fair amount of jeans and t-shirts that are no longer in usable condition and do not wish to throw them in the trash, does anyone know where I can take these things to be recycled here in Phoenix or the surrounding area?

  1. You can sell them on EBay. A lot of folks like worn out jeans. I know a guy who buys them and exports to Asia.

  2. my husband uses the tshirts for rags in the garage, I use them to clean out the hot tub and on windows (they are soft and dont scratch and dont lint). Jeans, hmm i wonder if fabric can be shredded somewhere for stuffing. If they are decent enought at the top to be made into purses or skirts when the rest is ripped? that is a young girl fad.

check with a senior center, they may use fabric for patch work and crafts or stuffing

  3. Any second-hand or Thrift store would be

glad to have them.  I do believe you still

have some poor Latinos and Indians in

Phoenix?  How about helping them out?

  4. Offer them on Freecycle. Crafters may want them. Animal shelters might want the T-shirts for bedding.

There's also a company in Chandler, AZ that makes denim into cotton insulation. I don't know if they take items from the public, but you might want to look into that (see source box).
