  1. I peel back the shuck a little and look at the kernels to see the size also you can use your thumb nail to to pop one of the kernels should be white inside. Hope this helps!

  2. I used to grow sweet corn for market sale.  Peeling back the husk was a bad idea.  Check for silk that's turned from light green to brown.  Then grab the ear and feel for full and hard.  After a while, you'll get a feel for what is ripe and what is not quite there.

  3. The corn silk (tassels) will turn brown and dry. That's the first sign. Then carefully test out a sample ear to see if it is fully formed and ready. Leave the ear attached to the stalk and carefully pull the husk down a couple of inches from the top of the ear. If the kernels are fully developed, gently push your fingernail into one, and if a bit of milky juice comes out, it's ready. If it's not quite ready, carefully pull the husk back up onto the ear of corn and try again in a day or 2. :)

  4. the silt on top turns brown. Then pull a husk down a little bit and poke a kernel with a pin if the juice is white and creamy its ripe

  5. Jimmy crack corn, and I don't care

    My master's gone away

  6. open the top of the husk and look if the kernels are a full size almost to the top , don't leave it on the plant if it's full they will harden  and loose the moisture.
