Re Jury duty -I got a call saying I failed to show up?

someone called me up and saying he was from the courts

and I failed to show for jury duty! and something about a warrant for my arrest? (I never got got a notice)

(I got so scared I hung up on him

you're being scammed. it's a 25 dollar fine for not reporting for jury duty if they feel like being hardnosed about it. don't worry.

sounds like  scam to me as I got one like that

and they said we can verify this information and asked

me for my Social security number I told they dont need that

-and then she got rude and demand me to tell her my social

security number! and thearten to send a police officer to my house to arrest me -I hung up guess what no police officer

came

Did he say his name? I would call your county court and just ask, if you did not get a notice that you were called for jury duty and explain that to them, then you can probably clear this up. If you ignore it, you will have bigger problems, assuming the person that called was actually from the courts.

If you don't show up for jury duty, no one is going to CALL YOU!

unless it is up to the arraignment bench after you fail to respond the the court summons....

you did the right thing, this was fraud

it was a prank.  I've blown off jury duty over a dozen times, and they don't bother tracking you down, much less calling you.

I've actually heard of a scam where they call you up and say something similar, and then get you to "confirm" your social security number or other details, which then enable them to steal your identity.

Call the court and see if you were called.  Maybe it's a scam
