Is northwestern Atlantic pink shrimp (also called Maine Shrimp and/or Gulf of Maine Shrimp) caught in Canadian waters and/or landed to Nova Scotia and/or New Brunswick ports? If so why can't I find them at Montreal supermarkets (we must drive to Vermont)?

  1. I am a former chef and we used to use a brand from Quebec's Gaspe area, called Matane, small cooked a size refered to as salad, check a good fish store, Provigo or in Laval there are a number of stores under the "Bonanza" name, they are packed in a 5lb bag and keep very well can be used in both cold or hot dishes, I use to use them in a sauce with saffron for a poached salmon dish.

  2. If they were caught in Canadian waters they would be sold in Canada. Just the same as lobster, the ones sold here are caught here. They are not imported from the States.
