Question:

Re-cycling, should we get a rebate?

My wife recycles paper, glass, plastic bottles and cans.

She takes them to our waste disposal plant on her way to do our weekly shop at the supermarket.

We only put the "wheelie bin" out for collection once every three weeks

Do you think we should have a reduction in our council tax?.

  1. this is the sort of situation where the idea of paying for waste disposal based on weight and quantity makes sense.  You would save money on your council tax and would encourage more people to be like you.

  2. Yes,so should i and all the other people who do their bit but it ain't gonna happen....................

  3. wouldn`t that be nice, to get a rebate off the council, we all live in hope

  4. the day this government give anything to the taxpayer will be the day the moon falls into the sea. I'm sure they'll be imposing recycling tax soon enough however

  5. yes, but that doesn't mean they will give you a break. but i think it is a good idea considering how much we are harming the environment.

  6. I agree with you,I recycle everything possible, but that advert on telly does annoy me,one recycled drink can saves enough power to run a computer for 20 minutes, yeah who's computer...not mine!

  7. best question on here yet and I aint looking for the best vote.

    I dont care about points.

you have asked a very good question.

indeed who makes the money out of "OUR" recycled stuff...the council of course.

and yet they have a god damned cheek to ask for water rates.

they supply nice coloured wheelies to keep the people happy while it makes them a fortune.

    in recycled material.

    aluminiun.plastic.glass, cardboard..etc.etc.

and where are our mp's getting bribes to shut up.

Of course I care about recycling but not to my disadvantage.

there can and should be a reward for doing this like reduced water rates.

the monies made should help old people during the winter months instead of making some already fat rich councillor take hollidays to the carribean...aahhh I could go on but....

  8. Nope. Fair enough fine those who don't, without the risk of sounding "treehugging" we should want the best for the world we live in and for our grandchildren etc that will have to grow up in it when we've gone.

  9. why? you still are having YOUR waste collected which costs money be it recyclable or not

such a tiny proprtion of your council tax even goes towards the waste collection anyway.

I bet that you argue it should be reduced if you dont go out at night and don't need the street lights, or if you dont have children why pay for schools, or dont break the law/see enough police why pay the council tax that goes towards their wages????

  10. I have asked about this and apparently our council tax doesn't cover rubbish and collections??

  11. Yes , you are doing the work for the refuge collectors.  Paper, bottles and cans washed and de labled - garden refuge - other items - all in differant bins.  The paving is marked with differnant circles and the differant bins have to be placed on these spots on the specific days, if not on right marker they will not collect - you wouldnt believe it - its gone mad

  12. duh!!!!!!!

  13. Yes. Give dicount to the recyclers and fine those that don't.

  14. Yes I totally agree with you!

We all recycle for the good of our planet, but some choose to dump on the side of the roads!

I think that there should be a reduction in tax for those who recycle and a fine for those who don't!

Simple and easy to remember hehe!

  15. yes i think you should...i do the same ..i think its so important....yet the rest of my street don't bother..its so annoying.........

  16. I bet the road where you live has pavements, street lights and has been resurfaced several times in the last 20 years.

Seriously all we get were I live is are rubbish and recycle collected every week if we are lucky, and that costs each house over £1000 a year.  If I want to see a pavement or a street light I have to walk a mile down the road.
