  1. It's a very good question! I believe this is the answer:

The book by Carol and Jonathan Bardon called,  _If ever you go to Dublin town, a historic guide to the city's street names_ suggests that Temple Bar is named after the Temple Family, forebears of Lord Palmerston, whose house and gardens were there. Sir William Temple, the first member of the family to live in Dublin, was provost of Trinity College in 1609.

In Dartry (Dublin 6, suburb of Dublin)  we still have Palmerston Park and Temple Road, located close to each other.

  2. very funny.

  3. Any tourist in Temple Bar in Dublin is in the wrong place, I think.

There is so much more to Dublin than that over-priced, over-rated, fake, 'olde' part of town.

  4. Arent Pubs and Temples pretty much interchangable in Ireland? I certainly recieved many a near religius experience at the bar over the years and several times found myself outside, often on my knees, head down groaning OH GOD as my Guinness miraculously reappeared.......

  5. very funny

but i am guessing you know temple bar is where pubs are found

  6. Drinking for the Irish is a religion - these were the Temples

  7. lol;-)
