i am currently a college student and I have many issues with math, especially forgetting formulas and how to calculate. many believe i may have dyscalculia. i want to do a re-evaulation but the current doctor (psychologist) refuses to answer or call back. i do have insurance but it has a whopping deductible which i cannot pay not including out of pocket payments. i have received fee waiver forms from the school my question is how can i get my re-evaluation done? how can i find any psychologists that would do it at much reduced price? i live in lake county in IL i contacted the health department but they said look in a phone book. please help?

  1. There is an infirmary at my son's college and a psychological service. Have you looked into what can be offered at your school?

Or perhaps, you can volunteer to be a subject for the psychology department at your college. Those students have to learn somewhere and why not from an on-campus subject led by an experienced professor.

  2. If you were diagnosed with dyscalculia you would not be able to get a miracle drug or treatment to cure you.  No matter what (whether you really have it or not) you are simply going to have to make accommodations.  Since you are no longer school age you will not get to benefit from the public school system to help you with this.  I think the best thing to do would be to research the disorder and specific ways to work around it.  You will have to alter your life just like a person with dyslexia or dysgraphia would.

  3. just show up at teh office and handcuff yourself-refuse to leave until he does teh eval...

try calling his boss-work all the way up the chain....
