if i install a windows vista program on my old xp computer will it reinstall the modem?

  1. In the past I've had to reinstall the driver for the modem so I'm assuming you would have to as well considering your hardware is going to be older than Vista.

    Just have your driver disks ready that came with the computer or find the driver on the internet and download it. You can almost always find the drivers on the website of the brand of computer you have. Good luck


  2. If it is Vista compatible, you shouldn't have any problems, as Vista would find the drivers for it automatically and install it or simply ask you for the disk (assuming you have one). If the modem is compatible but the driver version on your disk isn't, check the modem's make and model, go to the manufacturer's website and check it there are any drivers available for that product that is compatible with Vista. If so, even if Vista doesn't have the driver, you can download it and install it yourself.

    PS: If you think the driver you have won't work and you might need to download it, do that before installing Vista, and burn it to a disk, because you may not be able to access the internet without the modem's driver installed.
