i dont have a total lack of emotion, i have severe ups and lows, but when something bad happens, i often have no reaction to it, dont get sad mad or anything, like i could have cared less. is this a side effect of having schizo-affective disorder, the bipolar type? or is it something else?

  1. I think it's just your way of coping.  I don't see a problem with it.

  2. It's called "emotional blunting" - when you have no emotions whatsoever or are indifferent to a situation.  It is not a side effect of the things you mentioned.  It is a defense mechanism to sort of protect us. Same thing happened to me.
