My son has ADHD, ODD, Learning Difficulties, Dyslexic tendancies and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He was on his 5th social worker since July 2006 and now a CSA (childrens service assistant) has taken over his case and knows nothing. I requested a carers assessment last August and on the 7th March 2008 I was told, by this CSA, in a meeting, that she had never done this before but would try, she was given 2 weeks to complete it and that was the last I heard, I am still awaiting this. Surely this cannot be correct.

  1. I know exactly what you're talking about. Your CSA worker "dropped the ball" and you need to get in touch with her supervisor. You're right, this is not correct. She had 2 weeks to complete the assessment and did not.

If your son does not already have his own play therapy counselor at a local agency or community mental health center, I _highly_ recommend that you get one. The counselor can act as an intermediary with the social worker and make sure these things are getting taken care of. Also, the counselor can help set up a career assessment at their local agency (in many cases) or make a referral.

It upsets me to hear when these kind of things happen. If I can be of any help, let me know!

  2. I'd love to help you answer your question, but... what is your question???  What can't be correct?  His diagnosis?  The lack of a response from the CSA worker?  The fact that she is the 5th CSA worker assigned to your case?  Please repost your question with a clearer question!
