The time difference made everything a bit difficult, I think.

These Olympics flew by, for me! Except for Michael Phelps, I'll remember very little.

I saw NO Equestrian events....Why is that?

I remember the '84 Olympics and watching the "horse" events, which took place on a golf course! They were great.

  1. One I live on the West coast, so sometimes they lasted till midnight.

Two I don't think it was fair that some of the events were only shown on ESPN and such. What about the people  that don't have cable or satellitte TV, like me that missed all those other venue's. I got tired of watching, beach volleyball and I don't like basketball, and the minimal fencing was real boring. what about the wrestling and weightlifting and other things we did not get to see. I saw just a very little of the canoeing,  There was a lot more that the Olympics had to offer that we did not get to see on prime-time local channels.

  2. I didn't find time to watch any of it, though I usually do.  This year has been a little hectic, and I tend to bed down early.  I did actually see one of the equestrian events, but it was a delayed telecast....

  3. Didn't watch much more than the highlights on the news. I did  watch the closing ceremonies that though were an expensive display really didn't think it was much more than a political move. To many human rights violations for me to feel very good about the Olympics in China. but that is another question for another day.

  4. No problem for me I watch didn't any of it.

  5. Yes, I noticed a lot was missing from the actual broadcast.  I also thought the closing ceremony was a waste of my time. It was terrible.

  6. Most of the Equestrian was on the Oxygen channel, and then on another one... I can't recall which one.

I usually take advantage of the recording ability of my PVR/DVR/TIVO, whatever you wish to call it.  That way I can "time shift" and also zap the events I have NO interest in whatsoever.

There were a LOT of events missing, and I just cannot understand WHY!  They had WAY TOO much:

    ---beach volleyball

    ---swimming

    ---table tennis

    ---basketball

    ---soccer

    ---handball

    ---gymnastics

    ---diving

Where were all the other "minor" events? They covered SOME of them, but missed some ENTIRELY... like:

    ---Judo

    ---Shooting

    ---High Jump

    ---Discus

    ---triple jump

    ---Sailing

    ---Taekwondo

And coverage was so scattered and unreliable on the "minor" ones they DID show, you could easily have missed them.

NBC/MSNBC/ and the rest did a so-so job.  WIth today's cable/satellite capabilities, I feel that coverage should have been total, and allow the viewer to pick/choose what they wanted to watch.  They offer all sorts of viewing/sports packages, WHY couldn't they do this for the Olympics?  They didn't have to charge for them, there was enough commercials to pay for the coverage twice over.

    Have a Senior Day.

  7. YES!  I was up late every night and even gave up on my usual nightly reading in order to watch the Olympics.  It was great, but I sure was tired every day at work!!!

      ;-)

  8. I have to agree with you, I live in Australia and I thought the coverage by our channel 7 over here was dismal. I was looking forward to the track and field events when my wife said "it's the closing ceremony tomorrow!" so no discus or shot-put, no javelin events either! I'd miss the lot!  Thank you channel seven!
