I was wondering if its possible to re-use already fired .22 cal rifle brass from gun clubs that's have only fired once and is going to go take it and toss it out somewhere. And just clean them out and then re-use them. about how many times could i reuse before they needed to be tossed for good.

  1. As i said in your other question I don't believe they are reloadable

  2. Trying to reprime a rimfire case would require that you handle and

crimp in place raw priming compound.

'Mom' says" Stop before you hurt yourself!"

  3. 22 LR is a rimfire cartridge with the primer built into the casing.  You can only reload centerfire cartrides because the primer is a separate component.  So when you reload centerfire brass, you first eject the spent primer and install a fresh primer.

  4. 22 lr is not a reloadable cartridge because you cannot replace the primer like a center fire rifle,  The primer on a .22lr is in the rim and is a type of paste when loaded originally by the factory  If they let you, you can save the brass to sell for scrap.

  5. You might be able to, but I would not suggest it. Reused shells have a tendency to misfire, are not always accurate, and can be dangerous. New ones are usually pretty cheap too.

  6. It will cost you more money to reload them to just buy new ones. A .22 bullet cost about 2 cents each. The gun powder and lead would cost more than that.

Cabelas is going to be your best choice to find it at but I highly doubt they sell it.

If you really want  to do this go buy 22 shells, pull them apart and reload it again. .

  7. Someone correct me if im wrong but i dont think you can reload .22lr rimfire brass. (If thats what you mean by .22)

Could collect it and sell it to a recycling center.

Edit: I don't think you'll find rimfire brass anywhere because the ammo itself is so cheap there's no point in selling it.

  8. .22 is a rim fire cartridge and cannot be reloaded. If you are talking .22 cal such as .222 and .223 center fire then yes it can be re-loaded after you inspect it and make sure it is still within minimum cartridge specs.

I get about 7-9 reloads from my used brass.

  9. well mate i thiink everyone has answered your question. however with the brass left over a guy in gympie makes projectiles out of them. not a bad way to stop wastage.  staycool

  10.     I know what you mean, I just read an article about that. Back in the day, (well, before my time) they used to use caps from cap pistols to primer 22 long rifle cartridges. The same article made the point that one tenth more gunpowder would more than double the pressure. The author said that it blew the rifle apart!!  That is why they say that they aren't reloadable, it just isn't a safe procedure.

  11. Whether or not it can be reloaded depends on whether it is rimfire brass or centerfire brass.  If it is rimfire, it cannot be reloaded.  If it is centerfire brass, it is reloadable just the same as any other centerfire brass.  The only problem is in handling the tiny bullets.  If you have large hands like me, it is difficult to handle the little .22 bullets and the reloading is a slow process but it can be done.
