pa filter and I wipe it down with damp cloth after using. It still makes sense to me to vacuum, wait a few minutes, then dust - any professionals out there?

  1. I used to clean homes professionally. The woman that taught me always told me to vacuum last. Floors are always the last thing you do.  I'm not 100% sure why but I believe it may be that you stir up dust in the air while dusting. It settles on the floor and then you vaccuum to get up as musch dust as you can.

  2. I was told to hoover first then dust as the hoover makes a lot of dust which is thrown into the air by the fan and then settles on all the surfaces- try it- hoover first then dust and check the floor, then dust and hoover and check the surfaces.....

  3. I run my own cleaning company and the rule is to start up, and work down.  The reason being is that as you clean there will always be small particles that fall to the floor.  Therefore, whether it be vacuuming, mopping or buffing, the floors are the last thing to be cleaned.

  4. Check your owners manual, most vacuums have more than one filter.  One filter is obvious & others are hidden & are not cleaned properly.  This may cause your vacuum to create dust, if that is not the problem you definitely need a new vac..

FYI, I am a Housekeeping/Maintenance Supervisor the the YMCA
