This is a question i'd love everyone to answer (well everyone that drives )

When you honk at the other drivers - does the idea of them getting out of their car and becoming violent cross your mind? Or is the spare of the moment kind of thing. Also how would you react if they did get violent?

  1. Don't honked at other drivers .

  2. Usually if it almost causes an accident. then yes I honk my horn more of an instinct I guess. If they got violent I would attempt to drive away and call the police.

  3. Usually i honk if the girls are cute...  but if you do honk the horn follow it with flipping them off because they probably did something stupid and you want to try and make them feel even more stupider...  i guess i don't know what its like in a big city driving... here in north dakota most people like getting honked at.... usually means someone is horny...

If someone got violent and started walking around my car to get to me.. i'd go in drive or reverse which ever way they were going around me vehicle and give them a lil love tap.. or two..

  4. I always make it a point to never honk just because there are too many crazy people on the road...

  5. I only honk when there is a safety hazard.....for example, someone is about to back into me.....or a pedestrian/vehicle does not see me approaching.

When I honk, I use short beeps, perhaps several, depending on the situation.

I teach driving. One day while teaching, and making a rather slow left turn, a man in a pickup truck (with a young boy beside him), passed us on the left while making his left turn, and was speeding. Once we got around the corner there was another intersection.l

We stopped behind the pickup truck. The male driver (older man, about 45), got out and began shaking his fist (another reason to lock your doors) and shouting profanities at us.

My student said, "what are you going to do?"

I said.........."Nothing"............."Don... stare at him, let him settle down."..............These teens (2) were becoming upset because I wasn't doing anything. I explained that I didn't want the situation to escalate and that he could have a gun in his truck, or perhaps take his hostility out on the child in the truck.

Once he settled down a bit, I picked up my phone and showed it to him pointing at it and mouthing the words " 9 - 1 - 1 ?" He quietly got into his truck and drove off.

Sometimes you just have to "take it".............shut up and let things settle down..........

As we grow older we hopefully also grow wiser and learn how to properly deal with these situations.

I find that keeping your cool and being rational is the best way to prevent any situation from getting out of control

If it's an extreme situation, call the police. And........keep your doors locked.........

  6. I've been driving 50 plus years and I have  honked at other drivers less than 10 times I would guess.

  7. I had a guy get out of his car and come at me once...

i dropped into reverse and backed away from him, then i rolled down my window and shouted "hey A**HOLE! Come any closer and I'm Running Your A** Over!

  8. I got honked at one time at the mall when i actually STOPED at a stop sign. I put my Passat in park and got out, turned around, folded my arms and stood there. The lady was yelling at me inside her car, I asked her loudly what she wanted. She went around me, I gave her the finger, the end.

  9. I try not to use my horn unless the person almost caused an accident or they are coming close to hitting me. I used to use my horn a lot more than I do now but people have gotten so crazy these days I'm afraid the other driver may lose it and start shooting at me.

  10. I never use my horn.
