Hi i am due to have a eye test and will need to purchase a new pair of glasses, i would also like to get a pair of prescription sunglasses, however i wanted to know would it be better to get one pair of glasses with reaction lenses (the ones that change from clear to tinted in the sunglight) or get a pair of normall glasses aswell as a pair or prescription glasses.

any help would be appreciated thanks?

any pros and cons on reaction lenses would be great.

  1. The Transitions lenses ( reaction)...don't replace a real sunglass.

They are great outdoors but don't change when you are in a car because the windshield blocks the UV rays that make them change.

The ideal situation is to have both . 1 pair Transitions, and the other one a sunglass.

But a clear pair at least, and a true sunglass would be a better choice than just one pair with Transitions.

  2. Yup me too.I'm going to go with the reactions so that I get more mileage from my purchase. My sis is well pleased with hers.

  3. get the reaction ones. they are better for your eyes. even when the sun is out and its not sunny, they turn to sunglasses. this is better to keep the rays away from your eyes. you wont always be wearing the sun glasses but you will always wear your glasses.

    hope this helps!

  4. If your on NHS.You can get any from SpecSavers in the £45

range for nothing.Or 2 pairs if you need reading and long range

(viewing ones)If you want tinted or spare ones you pay  the

    difference.

  5. reaction lenses. they are better for your eyes, and you dont have to keep switching glasses. hope this helps =]

  6. The reaction lenses today are pretty good. They have the type that can change from light to dark fairly quickly, that was once a big problem of these glasses. Because they react to light and don't really allow that much sunlight in, the down side is that some peoples eyes become sensitive to the light when they take the glasses off. I have a pair of regular glasses that have a magnetic sunglass lens (came with the frames) that goes over them and they are really great. But I think there are really not much problems the reaction lenses today, alot of people wear them.

  7. depends on your tolerance to bright sunlight, as reaction lens don't usually get as dark as very dark sunglasses and sometimes after going dark never actually go completely transparent.
