Reaction to Kaká’s sending off
You have to try to turn every negative into a positive. Well someone has obviously drilled that into Kaká’s mind following last night’s controversial red card against Ivory Coast.
The former World Player of the Year was harshly given a second yellow card when Kader Keita conned the referee to think that Kaká’s had elbowed him in the face.
Replays showed that the Brazilian, who performed well in the match, was the victim of Keita actually running into him, Kaká merely stood his ground.
The Brazilian No.10 will miss the final Group G match against Portugal on Friday but he has tried to put a positive spin on things, saying the time off will give him a chance to work on his fitness.
"I have to look at the positive side," Kaká said.
"I'll use this time to continue working on my physical fitness. It's going to be important to get myself ready and return in top form for the next round.
"I'm happy for the result and I'm happy for how I played, participating in two goals. I'm gaining more confidence."
However, the 28-year-old would not reveal his thoughts on the incident. "I'm not going to talk about the sending off, the images tell it all. I hope Fifa looks into this,” Kaká added.
Brazil coach Dunga was far less subdued on the sending off and had some sarcastic words for Kieta.
“The player who commits the foul escapes the yellow card, I have to congratulate him for that” said Dunga.
“It was a totally unjustified dismissal of Kaká, he was fouled and yet he was punished. We have to know what is good football and what is not. So when the referee allows certain fouls or certain incidents to go unpunished that is not right. I must actually congratulate that Ivory Coast player.”
Sarcasm the lowest form of wit? We’ll let Dunga get away with that one, as his remarks towards the cheating Kieta are more than justified.
