Question:

Reaction to government manipulation of stock market?

After meeting with middle eastern leaders, immediately following both Presidential addresses to the nation, oil prices dropped. Now the government is artificially buying and selling stock to create the impression that the crisis is over. The objective of course is to change investor perception and psychology. They want us to believe the worst is over and put our money back into the market and banks. It was bad enough competing with professional traders. The additional manipulation now by our own government makes it impossible to know the true condition of our economy. Sure, it could be paranoia but the government has already done far more than this to try to shape public opinion.

  1. You need to use your brain a little more and stop thinking that the government is ruining your life.

  2. The markets are too big for one government to manipulate.

The U.S. is broke you donkey.

Sovereign Wealth Funds control the show.

That reminds me that I need to fill up manana.

  3. Evidence please.

  4. The government is not trading stock, you have no supporting docuimentation that would support you naive, uneducated premise.

You have given proof that you have no idea how the market works, or what has been this country's foreign policies for the past 36 months in relation to OPEC.

It's pathetic to read how anti American people really are, and how naive some can be.

If you don't like your government and America, you have one big freedom, that's to leave.  You would be better off, and most of use would not have to read you b.s.

  5. May I borrow your aluminum foil hat?

  6. Allegations have to be evidenced with supportive market figures.  Markets have been moving up for various other reasons including the euphoria about the govt's stability and its expecte policy rollouts.

  8. I echo "Mary Jo's Ghost."  Could it be that you lost some money in the stock market and need a scapegoat?

  9. The government has firstly no reason and secondly no time to worry about the condition of the stock market.  They may at best have a benovalent view to the happenings in this environment.

Also you may realize that it is Mr. Market that does it to itself and it surely does not require outside intervention in this regard.  When you have millions of individuals running for the exit doors of the stock markets across the globe, where does the government come into the picture.  They at best would have a regulatory role and would only send out an advisory.  Further, when millions of individuals come running through the entrances of the stock markets across the globe does anyone look for the governments or any advisories they may have sent out to caution the would be investors.

What you have stated is at best the figment of a fertile imagination.

    Sincerely,

    Akash
