Okay so i'm getting Braces tommarow and i was wondering some questions that people that had braces or has braces could answer...

Will they Hurt?

How long does it take to put them on?

Which Part Hurts the most??

Does your gums hurt?

What other things can i NOT eat besides hart candy hard stuff sweets soda sticky things and apples or something?

Helpp here im getting them tommarow!!!

It would help if you answered all my questions!!

Also: Which is the best Colors? I like the color purple and black ...and is it okay if i get black? Is it ugly or anything? Which is best in all colors?

When you get them on, they don't hurt for the most part but it might hurt a little bit when they put the brackets all the way in the back. Don't worry it won't hurt that much your teeth will feel heavy and it will feel weird for a while. And for the colors, i was a big fan of metallic silver, especially when you get power chains, idk why i thought it just looked the best and it almost looks white. Good Luck

it dosn`t hurt at first, you only feel a pinch. it hurts  the most afterwords. do not worry just remind yourself it is going to make your teeth straighter.it usually takes up to an hour. the things you put down that you couldn't eat is the only things you cant eat. and also choose the color you like best and maybe even your favorite color or what would match most of your outfits best:)  hope this helps!

I got braces today...they dont hurt at all when you get them on, but after, or 1-2 hours they will start hurting sum people dont even start hurting till the next day, just use the original advil, tylanol (pm), or ibprofen, it takes atlest 1 hour to 2 hours to put them on...it really depends on what part it hurts the most at mine hurt on the front sides and one side on the back....nuts are something not to eat and you can have sodas just diet because the sugar will eatthe glue dont bite your nails or pen or pencil they can also break a bracket...you can get watever color you want to get, black is not a bad color i like those colors together here is two site for you to choose colors... http://www.smilesbysmoron.com/color.asp ... http://drjohnking.com/BracesSelector.htm... hope i helped!!!!!!

1) It doesn't hurt when they put the brackets on ... but your teeth might feel sore when they put in the wires(tighten).

2)When they tighten your wires.

3)Your gum will hurt only if the wire is sticking out or when they put the bands too close to your gum.

4)You can't chew on ice, fingernails, and other hard things.

5)I prefer blue, but I like it when i get different colors at the same time.

2) it depends on how fast your dentist can work.

3) after every adjustments, usually last 1-2 days.

4) yes!

5) you can eat anything that your dentist gave a "go signal" to. as much as possible avoid fibrous things.

6) about the colors, i have used blue, yellow, green, black and the clear one... avoid the clear one if you can, it "absorbs" the color of the food you just ate =)

I am 45yrs old and have braces. I am a dental ortho assistant.  I will not lie to you it is not the best feeling thing in the world!!!  It will take about an hour to hour and 1/2 the gums don't really hurt but the feeling at first is just weird!  you should be able to eat most things BUT NOTHING STICKY, GOOEY OR HARD.  Things like meat and chicken will get stuck in your buckets and wires.  Just brush after you eat if you can not do this get some proxibrushes or Doctor's Brush picks ask your Doc for some samples to find what works best for you.  If you can not brush after you eat at least rinse your mouth with water to get most of the food out of the brackets and wires.  I can not tell you how important it is to keep your mouth clean.  Just think of it this way... what good is straight teeth if they are full of decay?  Your Doc should give you a starter kit with lots of samples and info about taking care of your teeth while in braces.  Colors... stay away from light colors they seem to stain easy... black is good as a second color with like red or orange at halloween.  I like the dark blue and purple the dont show stain much.  My teeth hurt for a few days after I have adjustments done but it nothing that advil wont fix.  hope this helps

Hi!!  I am a braces wearer for 3 and a bit years so I will try to answer your questions.  

1.  Will they Hurt?

Yes a little bit.  Normally all you will feel is some discomfort, but taking advil before you go to your appointments helps a lot.  

2.  How long does it take to put them on?

It takes probably about an hour, hour and a half.  (I can't remember exactly - it has been 3 and a half years!)

3. Which Part Hurts the most??

ummmm ... it depends what your treatment plan is.  For me it was the elastics.  Again advil is your best friend!

4.  Does your gums hurt?

not really

5.  What other things can i NOT eat besides hart candy hard stuff sweets soda sticky things and apples or something?

You can't really eat things that are going to get stuck.  You can suck on hard candies, but don't eat corn on the cob (cut it off), apples, basically anything you bite into.  Gum is another thing to be careful of.  It is a pain to have to get a bracket reattached - just  use your judgement.

Purple and black are awesome.  They have so many different shades that you could probably go a year or two without getting the same colour.  You can cordinate with any big events in your life (holidays, dances, proms, wedding colours etc.)

1. yes, they usually hurt when you get them on for a couple days and when they tighten them for a couple of days

2.it takes about an hour or two.

3.the day after you get them and getting them off hurts the most.

4.your gums don't really hurt, your whole mouth just feels sore for a while.

5.you can eat pretty much everything, it the way you eat it. just cuts things up into small pieces and stuff.

6.black looks good. and purple is the best. the darker the color the whiter your teeth look, and the lighter the color the better it blends in.
