There was one this guy named James. In December 1980 he tested for HIV and was negative. Then sometime in 1981 he tested again and was HIV positive. However, despite his health status he remained silent. He began keeping healthy life style, jogged 5 times a week, went to bed early, ate healthy, and took immune system vitamins(often sold in Wal-Mart) but never took any meds from HIV. James died of AIDS in 2000 at the age of 40.

Do you think it is really possible to survive within 19 years living with that kind of a disease and not taking any meds??

  1. Yes it's possible. Annything is possible. Keeping a healthy lifestyle helps.

  2. Its difficult to say really.  The HIV virus affects people in different ways and will take a different amount of time to turn into full blown AIDS for different people.  Someone might have HIV for a couple of years before it turns into AIDS, someone else might have it for a much longer time before it turns into AIDS.

As for not taking the medications, they definitely help slow down the progression of the virus but personally i'm not entirely sure how effective they are.  It could be possibly that this occurred but without any proof its too difficult to know.

  3. Yes. I know people who are HIV+, have been for 23 years and never have taken any HIV medications. Each person reacts differently to how their body reacts to the virus.

As for the person who questioned the dates, last year 2007, we celebrated 25 years AIDS, before that it was GRIDS the "g*y" disease. So the time frame could be realistic.

  4. I think you want fool the public. This virus was detected in 1983 and test was available for AIDS in 1985.This is viral infection. If the person immunity is good,he may remain asymptomatic for many years.
