it was a college class , Enc1102 to be more precise . It was the beginning of the course and he had assigned some homework , which i had forgotten to do . He asked me in front of everybody if i had done my homework and i said that i had forgotten , and guess what he told me : Maybe you are just focking bored with this class and dont want to do anything . I immediately changed my class but never said anything about it that this teacher said the F word IN MY FACE , in a very mean and loud way. and that is not all , he also said the words s.h.i.t and the word F again every class . Hes an unprofessional offensive man and i think he should be file a complaint against him . what do you think abotu all this ? should i file a complaint ?

  1. I agree. You need to stand up for your rights as a student. Being a professor and being older than the students does NOT give anyone the right to disrespect you. I don't know if you should report him for simply using obscene words in class, but if he is using them in a hateful way towards anyone than that is a problem.

The way he spoke to you seems inappropriate and very unprofessional. Personally I have no tolerance for such behavior anymore after having gone through discrimination from 2 professors, which were repeated offenses. Fight for your right to be treated with respect. Don't listen to those who tell you to just take c**p from professors...

  2. i disagree with the previous answers. this prof is creating a hostile environment, which is legally, harassment. however, it must be proven to be habitual and malicious.  also be advised, that while it is illegal for the prof to retaliate, it could prove to be a hostile environment for you if you have to stay in this class or deal with this prof in the future.

my advice: speak to the prof privately and respectfully to try and work it out, keep a record of all incidences, as well as people who can corroborate your story. at the end of the semester, write a letter to his supervisor/ dean if the situation doesn't resolve.

i had to deal with a hostile prof one semester:  i followed the above steps.  the prof took an unpaid "sabbatical" and has not returned to the dept.

  3. this is college and you're supposed to be an adult.  should have done your homework.  lesson learned.  move on.

  4. I don't believe that someone with a name like Gothic Charm and Hippie Monster honestly cares about profanity.  You are pissed that he called you out.  You are mad at yourself for being irresponsible.

You are right that he should have kept your private business private.  Going after him is a waste of your energy with no personal benefit to you.

  5. This is college.  I highly doubt that anyone would care about the occasional obscenity from an instructor.

  6. I am a retired college professor from the University of Georgia.  That type of language and behavior is totally unacceptable in any college or university.  What an arrogant _________ he is.

If other students heard this or if any other students have experienced what you experienced, you should go to the Department Chair and report this.  Or,  if you are afraid or are unable to do that, hide a small tape recorder so he cannot see and keep it on when he starts his tirade.

I am appalled that some of your answerers think this is acceptable behavior.   Good luck to you.   Stand up for yourself.  You do not deserve this type of treatment.  By the way, being an adult means you can speak the language without resorting to such vileness.

  7. its college and u are an adult...welcome to the real world! i dont think much will happen if you file a complaint regarding him ususing the f word towards you. just grow up and take it, and do your homework next time. they dont mess around in college. its not like highschool, you arent required to be there, you chose to be there.

  8. This is absolutely wrong, and I don't care what level of education he's in. Professorship doesn't exempt you from being professional at all times and being a positive example to young adults. I would definitely speak to the dean.  This is a problem- it's insulting, condescending, and not cute.  Why should anyone pay to be harassed?

  9. I also disagree with many of the posts also. I think your changing the course is very appropriate, but I think sharing the reason with the dean of students is a very good idea.  While an occasional curse word (or even several) can be overlooked in the classroom, being the object of such cursing is above and beyond what an adult should have to deal with.

I am astounded that a college profession would even get that exasperated over a student not doing homework.  Generally, you either do it and get credit or you don't and you take the zero---you are an adult and it is up to  you!  The professor sounds like he is on the edge and you would be doing him a favor to have his behavior reported. Perhaps the college can provide him with some support so he can continue in his job without the stressful outbursts which will only get worse if they remain unchecked.  The college has liability for what happens in the classroom and have the right to know what's going on!

  10. dont file a complaint just tell him that you dont like the language he uses. you can say anything- he cant get in trouble for that.

  11. no, he shouldnt be talking to you like that, but maybe you should be doing your homework and it wouldnt happen?

  12. He wrongly thought you were an adult.
