Reading A Restaurant Menu?

Question

I was looking for a nice restaurant to go to then i noticed instead of having the prices written out (like $10.00) the Menu had numbers (like 35-) in bold italics, what do they stand for?

I don't know why they do this, but they leave out the dollar signs when they type the price.  I guess it makes it look better or something like that.

That's the price.  In upscale restaurants, they leave out the dollar sign.

they take it out to help reduce sticker shock. that is crazy though it is still $35.00.
