Reading guitar tabs?

Question

i just got a book with electric guitar tableture but i can' read it and wherever i go it teaches me to read tabs with #'s but my tabs but my tabs are the note things or w/e that they use for almost every instrument, does any1 know a site where they can teach me to read those kinda of tabs?

Guitar tabs is the whole:

B:-----------------------

D:---0----3-----5-----

A:-----------------------

and standard notation is the Five lines (the "staff") with the black stuff ("notes") on them. Sorry I think I explained that really badly.
