Reading hoping to repeat giant-killing habits against Manchester City – FA Cup update
Reading striker, Brian Howard, has claimed that he would like to add Manchester City to the list of giants his side has toppled in the FA Cup. Howard’s comments come just prior to Reading’s FA Cup quarter final encounter against the Premier League side.
Manchester City will be looking to advance to the semi-final stages for the first time in almost 30 years. However, they will have to overcome Reading to achieve the milestone, and the Championship side has no intentions of going down without a fight.
Reading have earned a fearsome reputation in the FA Cup for their tendency to knock the big boys of the Premier League out of the competition. their FA Cup hopes dashed by the Championship side, having been knocked out of tournament by Reading earlier on.
Now the Royals have set their sights of reaching the semi-finals, but there is just one problem. Premier League giants Manchester City stand in their way.
The two sides will go head to head in the quarter finals on the12th of March, and Reading striker Brian Howard has revealed that he cannot wait for the match. The striker is encouraged by Dynamo Kiev’s recent win against the Sky Blues, claiming that his
side has a similar style of play to that of the Ukrainian club.
Speaking on the upcoming encounter, Howard said, “Kiev played really well and the way they play is the way we play. We don’t give teams time on the ball, we have a good shape about us and when we win it we are good on the break. That is how Kiev did it.”
He added, “Obviously City losing that game and the long trip back from Kiev with us having that extra bit of rest will help our cause.”
Fans hope Reading continue their giant killing heroics against Manchester City. They will find out when the two teams go head to head on Saturday, the 12th of March.
