Newly promoted side, Reading have gone on to agree terms to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pavel-Pogrebnyak-c29501, as the team looks to enhance themselves in order to have a successful season.
The Russian international went on to spend six months with Fulham last season, where he went on to score a very impressive six goals in just twelve games.
The striker went on to join Fulham, after he was allowed to leave Stuttgart on a free. However, with Fulham failing to tie him down permanently, it seems like Reading might get their hands on the twenty eight year old striker.
Fulham seem to have taken far too long to go on and offer the player an extended contract and as a result, Reading went on to swoop in and offer him a deal before the Cottagers could.
A statement that Reading published on their official website is quoted to have said: "Reading Football Club has agreed terms with Pavel Pogrebnyak to join the club.”
"The player has already completed a medical and the deal is now only subject to the player obtaining a UK work permit.”
"Reading Football Club anticipate completing the signing within the next 7 days."
As it stands, the only thing that could prevent the transfer from going through, would be a failure in him obtaining a work permit for the UK.
However, with him having represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 thirty two time and with him also having featured in the Euro 2012 in the Russian national team, he is bound to get the permit rather easily.
Last season, Pogrebnyak went on to surprise just everyone with the form and class that he displayed in front of goal. No one expected the Russian to do anything with his time at Fulham, but with him scoring a goal almost every other game, he silenced his
critics.
This makes it a whole lot harder to understand just why Fulham would miss out on the opportunity to tie him down permanently, given the fact that they just lost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Murphy they had the budget to land Pogrebnyak and offer him decent wages.
Nonetheless, it seems like Reading are already looking to prove their worth, as they have gone on to make one of the smartest signings of the transfer window, that we have seen so far.
