Reading are believed to be targeting Newcastle defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Simpson as they look forward to a season back in the English top flight.

The newly promoted club has already acquired Danny Guthrie and are now eyeing Simpson as a potential target.
Newcastle boss http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 from Ligue One side Lille. Debuchy’s arrival is set to pave the way for Simpson's exit, who may join former team
mate Guthrie at the Madejski Stadium.
Simpson has only one year left on his contract with the Magpies and was expected to see his contract out at the Sports Direct Arena. However, long running talks with the club regarding his contract broke down and Simpson may be on his way out, with Guthrie
urging him to join the Royals.
The Tynesiders  have long been interested in Debuchy, and it seems Simpson is aware that he will no longer be considered the first choice right back for Newcastle once the Frenchman arrives. Simpson could however take some time before arriving at a decision
regarding his future.
Reading are reportedly looking for a new right back after the club released former Manchester United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andy-Griffin-c6036. Simpson was a first team regular last season and played a major role in Newcastle’s exploits in the league. Simpson will surely add
crucial Premier League experience to Reading if a deal goes through.
Simpson joined Newcastle on a loan deal in August 2009, which was later converted into a permanent move when Simpson signed a three-year contract in January 2010. He played a vital role in Newcastle’s promotion to the Premier League and was ever present
in Newcastle’s 2011/2012 Premier League campaign as a reliable and hard working right back.
Whether Simpson will join Guthrie at Reading remains to be seen. Guthrie is apparently keen on linking up with his former teammate at his new club, and had this to say about Simpson:
“If I was asked by the manager here for my thoughts then I would tell him how good a footballer he is and how he always gives his best for the team.”
