Reading took on Tottenham Hotspur at home, as the newly promoted Premier League side was looking to try and claim as many points as they could early on in the season .
Despite Reading’s best expectations, they were attacked by Tottenham from the very first minute of the game.
The visitor’s went on to attack Reading time and time again, as they looked to create a number of goal scoring opportunities for themselves.
In the 18th minute, Tottenham went on to score the opening goal of the game, as Defoe scored for Tottenham. Sigurdsson went on to play a killer pass to Lennon, who then squared the ball to Defoe. The striker then slotted the ball into the far
end of the post.
From then on, it was all Tottenham as they continued to attack Reading time and time again.
Surprisingly despite all their domination, they failed to really scored another goal till the second half.
In the second half of the game, Spurs kicked things of rather slowly, but managed to eventually score their second goal of the game in the 71st minute of the match.
Bale hit a shot with his right foot, but saw it connect with his right and then spin over the keeper and into the back of the net.
Defoe then went on to score a second, as he scored Tottenham’s third goal of the match. The striker won the ball at the halfway mark and then darted all the way into the box. He then struck a shot, as he blasted the ball into the back of the net.
However, Reading managed to score a consolation goal in the 90th minute, as Robson-Kanu scored for the home side. Le Fondre chipped a brilliant pass into the box, and Robson-Kanu managed to turn the ball into the back of the net.
However, the late goal proved to just help their goal difference out, as they failed to claim any points from the game.
At the end of the ninety minutes, the score card read three goals to one, in favour of Tottenham, who finally managed to climb up in the Premier League rankings.
