“Ready to beat the Yanks” – Adrian Gonzalez
"I'm very excited that everything was able to be worked out and I'm very excited to be here in Boston.  I'm ready to beat the Yanks," was what Adrian Gonzalez said to highlight the introductory press conference. The Boston Red Sox has been through a lot
of problems in the recent months. The regular season was marred with injury problems and the team ended up in the low end of the American League East table. They made it to the 3rd ranking in the division but were unable to make the playoffs.
Adrian Gonzalez can be considered a much needed asset in the line-up as the Adrian Beltre is looking for a better offer in the winter meetings. He along with Victor Martinez made their way out of the club looking for better options. The Red Sox still need
a catcher at the helm after Martinez signed with the Detroit Tigers. Boston is looking to strengthen its roster for the coming season and the intention is to make it to the playoffs.
The New York Yankees, considered Boston’s biggest rivals in the American League, will be finding the Red Sox tough and Brian Cashman conceded to that reality. It’s apparent that Gonzalez adds a whole new dimension to the team and when the two giants compete,
the match will be a blockbuster, by every standard.
Brian made a few remarks on Adrian. He said, "It makes them a great team. He's a heck of a hitter. That's a huge addition for Boston. We know what our areas of weaknesses are that we need to tackle, and that's what we need to continue to focus on. But they
just obviously improved themselves in a significant way. He's one of the premier players at that position in the game."
The true nature of the relationship between the Red Sox and Adrian Gonzalez depicts a dependent combination. Both parties are to gain from a cordial understanding. Boston has lost four prospects in Casey Kelly, Anthony Rizzo, Reymond Fuentes and a player
to be named later to a trade with the San Diego Padres. General Manager, Theo Epstein, is looking at helping the player adapt to the different environment.
The objective of the trade is simple and it doesn’t surprise many that the Red Sox are doing everything they can to drive down costs and reach the playoffs by toppling bigger clubs like the Tampa Bay Rays and the Yankees.
