Question:

Real Estate in Charlotte, NC?

I'm moving down to Charlotte in 2 months or less and am considering obtaining a NC license. Do brokers in NC work part-time like other areas of the country or is this considered a full-time commitment? I prefer stable employment, but could manage to show and sell homes part-time if this is possible.

Do firms in Charlotte hire new, part-time brokers? I have many leads from the Northeast, so this would help selling some homes, but I don't know how the real estate protocol is in Charlotte. Thanks in advance.

I would think that there is plenty to go around with the big migration to Charlotte, even if there are lots of brokers, which doesn't seem to be the case.

  1. are you confusing brokers with agents? they are two different jobs. That said, any agent, no matter where they live/work, is only as good as they want to be. If you are a dedicated professional, you can work "part time"--but you will be competing with other equally dedicated "full timers"--and this will put you at a disadvantage. Selling houses can be financially rewarding IF you make the effort. If at all possible, i'd say work RE full time if you can, as you will make more money, probably, than you can working for someone else. Good luck.
