  1. 2 eyelids per eye if the second lid closes it is hard to open you have to push relatively hard.

  2. One

  3. Three.  The upper and lower work like ours.  The third eyelid, also called the nictitating membrane, is an inner eyelid that protects the eye from dust and stuff.  Sometimes you'll see it when they flick a hair or fly out of their eyes.

  4. 3 on each eye, so i guess the real answer would be 6. the lower and upper eyelids function the same way as ours. however, the third eye lid only makes an appearance when the eye needs to be protected. this can be dust, or if a vet is working near the eye and the horse feels the eye needs protecting, etc...

  5. 2-1/2 eyelids per eye!
