Real Madrid 2-0 vs. AC Milan – First Half Report: Cristiano Ronaldo on fire
It was an out and out Cristiano Ronaldo show at the Bernabeu in the early proceedings of the first half between Real Madrid and AC Milan. Ronaldo was in his element as Madrid went into half time 2-0 up against the Italian giants.
Milan did look totally out of it in the first 20 minutes or so and the home side had the better of the former European Champions. Real manager Jose Mourinho certainly seems to be gradually getting it right with Real. The ruthless display by his team in the
first half against AC Milan was frightening in its ferocity to put it simply.
As soon as the game started, there was a devastating display of pace and there was a cynical foul. However, none of the players were involved actually; a fan got on the pitch, ran around a bit and was then booted into the air by
a steward.
Finally the game got underway, and it was Real Madrid all over. Ronaldo on the right and Mesut Ozil on the left were creating havoc. It did not take long for the home team to break the deadlock and in fact they got two quick goals
in space of just 90 seconds.
First Alex Pato conceded a needless free-kick that was just 20 yards out; the wall parted like the Red Sea and Cristiano Ronaldo fired home with ease. He did not use his famous boot lace approach and instead went for a more conventional
side footer to place the ball easily in the right hand corner.
AC Milan had barely got over the first goal when almost from the kick off, Ronaldo intercepted the ball and made surging run on the left wing.  Ronaldo sent in a cross towards Ozil, who side-footed it goal-wards: the ball took
a huge deflection off Daniele Bonera before looping in the back of the net as the wrong-footed keeper looked on in shock. AC Milan looked shell-shocked and Madrid were running all over the visitors.
Milan finally had a chance at goal when as Andrea Pirlo's stunning 25-yard free-kick from the right forced Iker Casillas into a superb one-handed save. Casillas tipped the ball on to the bar. It was the closest Milan came in the
half to scoring a goal.
After the one chance, normal service resumed at Bernabeu and Real Madrid continued to bombard the Milan goal. The home side could have had at least 2 more goals had the finishing been a bit better from Angel Di Maria.
The first half ended at 2-0, but signs are there that AC Milan would be in for a tough 2nd half unless they come up with a new plan after the break.
