Real Madrid and Manchester United target Gareth Bale for next summer
According to the latest media reports, Manchester United and Real Madrid are set to battle out for the signature of Tottenham Hotspurs sensation Gareth Bale. Sir Alex Ferguson has made no secret of his admiration for the Welshman and
reportedly offered 20 million Pounds for the left sided player earlier this summer.
Gareth Bale made his senior debut with Southampton at the age of just sixteen and played for a single season before Tottenham Hotspurs realised his potential and snapped him up the very next year. Spurs paid an initial 5 million pounds
for his services but his sparkling performances mean the London based club will end up paying in excess of 10 million pounds.
At 21 years of age, the Welshman has already become the first pick on the team sheet and has already accumulated 54 appearances for Tottenham. The left sided player signed a four year contract this summer even after the interest from
Red Devils was revealed. Spurs take this as a sign of contentment with the way things are turning out.
Tottenham has put a hefty 30 million pounds tag on the mercurial player who can play in any position on the left. It is very unlikely that Manchester United will be able to afford such extravagance. Ferguson dearly wants the player
on the club’s play list as United has only two natural wingers and Bale’s power and youthful exuberance will be an asset to the club.
Real Madrid however, can provide the funds for such a transfer and Mourinho has already made the Welshman his primary target for the summer. Tottenham Manager Harry Redknapp has acknowledged the interest from the Portuguese but has
made it clear the winger isn’t going anywhere.
“Mourinho knows a good player whenever he sees one but we are not letting go of Gareth. Mourinho can just enjoy watching the player play because the player isn’t going anywhere”
Gareth Bale has seen his stocks rise tremendously over the last couple of seasons and played tremendously well last season as the London based club won a Champions League spot. Tottenham must do all they can to achieve a UEFA Champions
League spot for the next season as well. Failure to do so is likely to leave Gareth Bale unhappy and looking for pastures new.
