This article is a continuation of ‘Real Madrid and the 10th Champions League trophy – Part 1’.
Having won two European titles with two separate clubs, Jose Mourinho will also be looking to immortalize his legacy by leading Madrid to the much-anticipated European title.
The first time the Portuguese tactician was successful in the prestigious tournament was in 2004, when he led Portuguese Primera Liga outfit, Porto, to a miraculous European triumph.
The remarkable feat was also the reason Mourinho rose to prominence. From then onwards, it took a short while for the manager to be noticed all over the continent.
According to many, it was the beginning of a new era, as the world of football was soon introduced to the ‘Special One’. Interestingly, the 49-year-old chose the name for himself, soon after he signed with English Premier League side, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
After he was made the head coach of the London outfit, he promised that he would bring silverware to the Stamford Bridge. Just as the veteran trainer promised, he delivered. The Blues were able to secure their first Barclay’s Premier League trophy in more
than 50 years in Mourinho’s first season at the club. The feat was repeated in the second season as well.
Due to some untoward events, the former Porto boss parted ways with Chelsea after spending 3 and a half seasons at the English capital. According to popular belief, the manager had a falling out with the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich.
Fascinatingly, the Portuguese mentor’s success rate continued at his new project, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. The San Siro was his next destination after his exit from the English outfit. Mourinho’s reign over the Italian Serie A giants was one of the most successful periods
in their history as they managed to secure a number of Scudetti, along with winning the UEFA Champions League in 2010.
Hence, the Special One became only the third manager in the history of the beautiful sport to win silverware in Europe with two different clubs.
However, his aim appears to be set at becoming the first manager to win the Champions League with three different football clubs. The former Inter Milan manager has expressed this desire on more than one occasion, as it is something that will cement his
name in the history books.
Therefore, we can easily deduce the desire of the Blancos head coach. Nevertheless, it is also important to note that this is certainly not one man’s mission for glory. This is in fact, the aspiration for every Madridista at the moment.
The members of the Merengues squad have been found voicing their desire to be European champions on several occasions. It is almost as if everyone at the Spanish capital wants the 10th title.
According to experts, Los Vikingos are more than capable of carrying out a successful campaign in Europe as they are one of the most complete sides all over the world.
From having one of the best goalkeepers, to boasting a rock solid defence, a well-structured midfield and a destructive attack, the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are fully armoured, and carry an imposing threat for every side that they encounter in a competitive
fixture.
The 2012/2013 season will be Real Madrid’s 12th season in pursuit of winning the Champions League, and they would hope that they finally bring home the 10th European trophy.
