Real Madrid attacker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 receives European Golden Boot – La Liga News
Cristiano Ronaldo has received his second Golden Boot accolade for being the highest scorer in Europe. The Portuguese scored 53 goals in 54 competitive matches for Real Madrid to bag the award after a gap of two years.
During the award ceremony held in Madrid, where he shared the credit with his Real Madrid colleagues, Ronaldo left with another one of his quirky phrases.
"If God does not please everyone, how am I going to do it?"
The Los Blancos star scored 40 goals in La Liga winning the Pichichi award en route to achieving the prestigious honour. He scored more than any other player in Europe’s top leagues, eclipsing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, on the way.
Messi ended the season with 31 goals in Spanish top flight football, but was level with 53 goals after playing one additional match.
The former Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson prodigy was handed the award at Madrid's Intercontinental Hotel by Portugal legend Eusebio and Real Madrid honorary president Alfredo Di Stefano.
Ronaldo was happy to receive the award but stated that he would be happier if the club is able to lift biggest trophies on show rather than winning personal accolades.
"I would trade this award right now for the Champions League or La Liga," he said. "You can only win individual awards because the team help you.
"I would like to win something bigger at a collective level. I do not think about breaking records, but about Real Madrid. I think our team is more mature and with more trust, and we all have to think the same way to achieve an important goal."
Ronaldo received his first Golden Shoe award after wooing crowds at Old Trafford in English Premier League. He finished the domestic campaign with 31 goals in the 2007/08 season to receive it for the first time.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 captain was asked about competing with Lionel Messi and their professional rivalry. Ronaldo is rumoured to be obsessed about outshining the Barcelona man, who has won the Ballon d’Or award on the last two occasions.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 said that he is not worried about the competition he gets from the Argentine. He likes to play the way he likes and would not change it for anything.
