The Argentine international is not short of confidence despite his side’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
Di Maria expressed that Real Madrid have what it takes to make it to the final of the UEFA Champions League by eliminating the Bavarians, even though Los Blancos faced a defeat in the first leg of the semi-final between the two European giants.
Jose Mourinho’s men, along with Jupp Heyneckes’ Bayern, are among this year’s last four in the UEFA Champions League. The two footballing juggernauts came face-to-face on Tuesday at Munich’s Allianz Arena to play out the first leg of the highly anticipated
fixture.
As many had expected, the encounter between the two teams turned out to be massively competitive and highly thrilling.
Although the hosts managed to emerge 2-1 victorious by the end of the game, it could be observed that it was their good fortune that got the better of Madrid.
As the match began, the Bavarians showed their intent and took the game to the Spanish giants early on. It was only in the 17th minute that Franck Ribery found the back of the net and scored the opener for Bayern.
Although the hosts played the better football in the first half, Los Blancos refused to back down and created a number of chances.
In the 53rd minute, their efforts paid off as Mesut Ozil managed to score the equalizer after he tapped in a cross from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629.
The visitors became more confident after they levelled the proceedings of the match; however, Munich caused a constant threat. In the dying moments of the match, Mario Gomez scored the second goal for the host team, which eventually turned out to be the
winner.
Angel Di Maria has emphasized that the semi-final is still far from over as the Whites can turn things round in the reverse leg, which will be played at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While talking to reporters, the attacking midfielder quoted:
"The draw would have been a good result, but looking at it with a cool head one realises we need to win 1-0 to reach the final. The result isn't good, but it's similar to a 0-0 draw. We know we can turn the score around.”
"We knew it wouldn't be easy. Bayern have reached this far for a reason. It was a difficult match and we tried to do our best.”
At the moment, Real Madrid are preparing for their El Clasico clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 on Saturday.
