Real Madrid can take advantage of Barcelona’s fading form (Part 1)
Everything was going smooth for Real Madrid as the Spanish La Liga season kicked off. With Real Madrid switching managers from Manuel Pellegrini to Jose Mourinho in this season, football fans expected the Los Blancos to do wonders.
Barcelona were the ones who took an early lead in the points table as Real Madrid suffered a draw against Mallorca while L'equip blaugrana won their first game of the season against Racing Santander. Later on, things changed for both the teams as Barcelona
suffered a 0-2 home loss to the newly promoted side Hercules and Real Madrid won their fixture to take a two-point lead from the Spanish Champions. Meanwhile, Valencia were flying high at the top of the table.
Real Madrid had a two-point lead over Barcelona as they faced them at the Nou Camp for the first of the ‘El Clasico’. The Catalan Giants were at advantage as they were to play in their home ground and they would not get a better
opportunity to boast victory against Real Madrid. Josep Guardiola introduced his strongest side against Jose Mourinho’s powerhouse and even though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 was not on the scorecard, Barcelona won the game 5-0. It was an unexpected win for the Spanish Champions
who totally exploited Real Madrid’s tetra-packed defensive wall.
Now, with Barcelona taking a two-point lead over Real Madrid, they were expected to drop points at some point during the season. However, not only did they extend their winning streak, in fact they also managed to beat Real Madrid’s
record of 15 games unbeaten in a row in the Spanish La Liga – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38605 won sixteen.
On the other hand, things went from being bad to worse for the Los Blancos as they suffered a shocking loss to Almeria to hand Barcelona a five-point lead in the Spanish La Liga. The Catalans, meanwhile, were flying high as they
were on a road to making history. Real Madrid further helped the Catalan giants’ cause as they managed to draw a game against Osasuna and gave Barcelona a huge lead in the points table – seven points.
With Barcelona up and running, they were not expected to drop points against anyone. The Catalans next travelled to Gijon to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Villa-c10629’s former club Sporting Gijon with an “all-winning” away record intact. In that particular
encounter, the Spanish Champions were trailing behind during the first half after a remarkable goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique and found the back of the net before Victor Valdes could reach him.
David Villa did score later during the game to help Barcelona gain at least a point. However, his exquisite finish was not enough to give Barcelona all three points. The Spanish Champions drew their first game since the home game
they played against Mallorca. After dropping two points, the Spanish Champions suffered as Real Madrid won their weekend fixture against Espanyol. The two sides met in Barcelona and even though the Los Blancos went a man down during the first minute of the
game, a goal from Marcelo helped Real Madrid take three significant points.
It was once again the best player for Real Madrid, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 as the rest of the team concentrated on
defending against Espanyol. With a skilful and speedy striker like Ronaldo in the team, Real Madrid did not need anything better to counter attack. The Portuguese combined well with the former Manchester City striker, Adebayor; however, the on-loan star could
not finish his chances later during the game.
