Real Madrid close in on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao, likely to be at Santiago Bernabeu next season – La Liga news
Portuguese Wingback looks set to join Los Blancos for €22million according to reports in Madrid.
In an otherwise disappointing campaign, the Benfica star was one of Portugal’s shining lights at the 2010 FIFA World Cup
"What I want is to play for Real Madrid," Coentrao said last week. “It is the best club in the world and the only place I would leave Benfica for.”
"Madrid has the best players in the world and I have many http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Friends-football-club-c39381 there. Nothing has been done but I hope the signing will go ahead. Benfica understand my decision and I intend to make it a good deal for them. I will be grateful to them all my life.” Coentrao explained.
His desire to play for the Spanish Giants coupled with the presence of his Portuguese teammates at the club might prove to be too tempting for the 23-year-old and he might push for a transfer.
"Of course I speak with Cristiano [Ronaldo], http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 and [Ricardo] Carvalho, but I am still a Benfica player, even though I am interested in playing for Real Madrid," Quoted the former Zaragoza man.
The 23-year-old started his career in the youth ranks of Rio Ave, before his transfer to Benfica in 2007. He was immediately loaned out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984’s matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup until their Round-of-16 exit.
His undoubted talent has lead Portuguese Skipper and friend http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 to say that he would make excellent signing for the Spanish side.
Real Madrid already have a transfer history with Benfica; the move of Argentine Ace, Angel De Maria, last year means the two clubs enjoy a health relationship. But reports claim that the Lisbon club could add €5m in clauses and swell the transfer fees to a whopping €27m, a price Real Madrid would willingly pay in order to secure the services of the highly rated Wingback. Coentrao would be Madrid’s fourth summer signing joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamit-Altintop-c15652 and Jose Callejon at the Bernabeu.
Should Benfica agree to a deal with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 in recent seasons, indicating a tough period ahead for the Eagles.
