Real Madrid director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Valdano claims Los Blancos serious about first Clasico - La Liga news
Real Madrid’s Director General Jorge Valdano has revealed that the Los Blancos are taking the first Clasico seriously in spite of the fact that it is just a Primera Division game. Madrid are going to host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 on Saturday, the 16 April at the Bernabeu
in first of the four Clasico’s coming up in the space of 18 days.
Valdano seemed delighted over the prospect of facing arch-rivals four times in less than two weeks and urged his team to win all four of the encounters against a high-flying Barcelona side. He did admit that the upcoming La Liga game against the Catalan
giants holds less importance as compared to other important fixtures coming up, but insisted that the Los Blancos will take it one game at a time.
Barcelona are currently leading their title rivals, Real Madrid, by eight points and a win for Madrid would not make such a big difference on the points table, as Pep Guardiola’s side will stay on top with a five points advantage.
Valdano mentioned that every game is important and a win will build momentum which will be really helpful in the upcoming Clasico’s, which are certainly of greater importance. He also added that, “The first game sets the standard and the psychology for the
following matches and, therefore, must be taken seriously,” he said, according to a popular Spanish daily. “In addition, the league is still there to be won.”
The director claimed that it would be really hard for both teams to cope with the pressure but thought that Real are a much better unit when they play under pressure. Further commenting upon the high-profile fixtures, Valdano said that, “Playing these matches
in 18 days is unprecedented and it is, therefore, difficult to say how we would cope. But we are used to living with pressure and high demands, and this time it is very special.”
Both teams will meet for a Primera Division game on Saturday, 16 April and then the focus will shift towards the final of Copa del Rey, to be played on Wednesday, 20 April. It will not end here as both the rivals will compete in a two legged Semi-final of
the UEFA Champions League, the first leg to be played on Wednesday, 27 April at Bernabeu.
Saturday’s meeting will be the second time these two teams meet after Madrid slumped to a 5-0 defeat in a Primera Division game earlier in the season. Barcelona has been unbeaten in their last five meetings with Real Madrid and will hope to continue their
unbeaten run.
