Real Madrid will face Malaga CF in their next Copa del Rey fixture. A win would lead to yet another El Clasico with Barcelona.
Los Blancos sporting director, Miguel Pardeza, refused to talk about the potential meeting with La Blaugrana, stating they are focused on Malaga at the moment.
Pardeza commented that Real will have to overcome the challenge of Andalusian team before thinking about playing perennial rivals in the next round.
"The eliminator will pass, so it's not time to talk about a potential classic. We must consider our first direct rival, we must do our homework and Barca, where appropriate, their own. Still, it would be much time to discuss the possible crossing. It's a
matter of going by road," Pardeza said.
The retired Spanish footballer praised both potential rivals in the cup competition. He stated that both teams have quality players in their squads. Continuing on the topic, he refused to point out favourites for the cup competition.
"It's a match between two teams of First Division, a powerful rival awaits, with a great squad. There are no favourites."
Pardeza acknowledged that luck plays an important role in football, pointing out the good performance of teams from lower divisions upsetting La Liga sides. Real’s cross-town cousins Atletico Madrid have been upstaged by Albacete, while Villarreal were knocked
out by Mirandes.
With Los Blancos preparing for the Copa del Rey tie against Malaga CF, the Andalusian side will leave no stones unturned. La Rosaleda-based side prize the knockout competition and are ready to lock horns with Real.
