Trio of Los Blancos fans, father and two sons, showed their club colours in Pamplona and were roughed up by Osasuna fans on Saturday night as Mourinho’s men triumphed 5-1.
Los Blancos travelled to Pamplona for their latest La Liga fixture, thrashing their hosts 1-5 to take all three points on offer.
Despite the favourable result, the match had plenty of controversy to offer as a couple of Real Madrid fans incurred the wrath of Osasuna fans as they displayed the club’s flags in the centre.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edgar-c11882 Villamar and his two sons were at the centre of the incident as live television coverage showed host fans snatching the flags away from the travelling Madridista, resulting in an outcry from the league leaders.
As a result, Real Madrid hierarchy welcomed their fans to the centre flag row for their Champions League outing at the Bernabeu against APOEL Nicosia. Osasuna club authorities have also apologized to the family on behalf of their supporters.
The official club statement from the Navarre-based club read that they deeply regret the scenes caught on tape and asked that generalizations about their fans are avoided.
"The club would like to acknowledge the horrendous behaviour observed in the television recording and point out that it is obviously completely unrelated to other Osasuna fans," the statement on Osasuna's website read.
"It has nothing to do with the exemplary way in which our fans behave inside our stadium and encourage our team."
Ahead of their Champions League encounter, Emilio Butragueno also took out time to talk on the subject. The Real Madrid director was astonished at the behaviour of the fans but believes it is a one-off incident.
Butragueno turned his attention to APOEL Nicosia and insisted that despite the three away goals advantage in the favour of Jose Mourinho's men, they will look to put the result beyond doubt in front of home fans.
"We earned a fantastic result in the first leg.”
"They have had an amazing run in the Champions League and, despite our great advantage, we will have to concentrate very hard and show the greatest respect for them."
The Champions League fixture kicks off at 20 45 CET on April 4.
