Real Madrid given the green light to reform Santiago Bernabéu – La Liga News
Florentino Perez’s proposal to revamp Santiago Bernabéu has finally been accepted by the shareholders and board members assembly. The stadium and its surrounding areas will be remodelled to make it a global architectural landmark.
Real Madrid will add a shopping and leisure complex to their present facilities in line with proposed changes.
The complex will measure 12,250 square feet and will be hosted on buildable plot of 5216 meters. The area in question is an unoccupied square in front of the façade of Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the Paseo de la Castellana.
Real will be able to pull it off by modifying the General Plan for Urban Development that was approved by the capital city government of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-c4309 Ruiz-Gallardón.
The approved proposal will cover the finishing stage and give the special stadium a more modern image, as reported after Governing Board and Deputy Mayor of Madrid, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Cobo’s press conference.
In exchange Real Madrid have made guarantees of their own. They will have to tear down the shopping area at the Bernabéu Corner and build a park in its place. The shopping area of 6858 meters will be an expansive park in the centre of Madrid’s commercial
area.
Real will also give the City Council in Carabanchel, four plots in the Opañel neighbourhood. These plots consist of 4330 square meters of parkland and 3,636 of equipment. The land exchanges have been stated as inexpensive sacrifices the club are willing
to take.
The club will also have to pay the city government 6.667 million Euros for the 10 percent increase in floor area, the Deputy Mayor Cobo announced. The payment of these funds will bring the total expenditures to a hefty 67 million Euros, a price Real are
willing to pay.
Cobo also reported that the General Plan amendment will enter public information records. He also shed light on the economical benefits the community will enjoy as a result of this investment.
It is expected that the project will generate a private investment of over 200 million Euros. in addition to this 3000 jobs will also be created, however, only 600 are expected to be long term after the completion of the project.
