Real Madrid interested in Lyon duo of Clement Grenier and Maxime Gonalons – Ligue 1 news
Reports in Spanish media suggest that Olympique Lyonnais youngsters Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier are attracting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
The duo is a product of the Lyon youth academy and have rose to prominence in the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign. Maxime Gonalons is already in line for an international call-up from France boss Laurent Blanc.
While talking to the media, Gonalons said, “The France team? For three years I have been with the pros. But I played rarely. This year I started playing a lot. But this is only the beginning. If a call-up comes, it will be only because of my progress at
Lyon.”
The 22-year-old has already had a great start to the Ligue 1 campaign and has become an integral part of Remi Garde’s replacement. The youngster was initially looked up as a replacement for France international Jeremy Toulalan who left Les Gones for Malaga
this summer.
Gonalons has done admirably well in order to fill the void left by the departure of Toulalan. Grenier on the other hand, is still relatively inexperienced in contrast to Gonalons. The 20-year-old has only recently been given chances with the Lyon side and
has shown flashes of talent.
The youngster was an important factor behind Lyon’s 2-0 win over Marseille last weekend and is touted to become one of the most important Lyon players for years to come.
Reports now suggest that Real Madrid sporting director Zinedine Zidane is keeping an eye on the two talents. Stephane Paille, who is Madrid’s recruiter, is keeping a close eye on the progress of Gonalons on Zidane’s request.
While talking to francefootball.fr, Paille said, “He has a lot of game experience and has made good progress. He has a lot of presence. I will talk to Mourinho about him.”
Grenier’s qualities were also noted by Paille and the scout is impressed by what he has seen so far of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 and Remi Garde would be looking to offer the two
long-term contracts so that the club can benefit from two of the most talented players that graduated from the Tola Volage academy in Lyon.
