Real Madrid are reportedly eyeing the prolific Dutch striker, Robin Van Persie, for a sensational move to the Spanish Capital at the end of the current season.
Real Madrid have put http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 on their agenda for the 2012-13 season. The 28-year-old striker is favoured by head coach, Jose Mourinho, and Madrid administration is aware of the situation.
The prolific attacker’s contract with English Premier League Giants, Arsenal, ends in 2013. With the London club failing to renew Persie’s contract thus far, it has been speculated that they will be forced to sell him in the upcoming summer transfer window
to get something out of the deal.
Reports in the Spanish media suggest that Jose Mourinho is enthralled with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 with 22 goals to his name.
Van Persie follows in the mould of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044, the big and powerful strikers who have been the focal points of the Portuguese manager’s previous teams.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 player has shown, during his time at the Emirates Stadium, that he is comfortable in almost any attacking position out of the three: winger, second striker and striker. There are few left-footed attackers available in the market who
are versatile and can play anywhere in the final third.
It has been reported that Jose Mourinho has already made contact with the Dutchman and told him on telephone that Madrid are following him closely and are aware of his contractual situation.
The arrival of a new striker at the Santiago Bernabeu would mean Gonzalo Higuain moving to fringes of first team football. With Mourinho and the club unwilling to have three out-and-out strikers in the dressing room, the Argentine looks to be on his way
out of the club.
However, with Real Madrid breaking scoring records in the current campaign, reinforcing the current attacking line-up looks out of question. They have already scored 71 goals in 21 La Liga games thus far, and are on course to break the 128-goal record.
