Real Madrid land Angel Di María
Real Madrid will complete the signing of Benfica winger Angel Di María next week, according to Spanish reports.
Di María will link up with José Mourinho at the Bernabéu after the World Cup.
The deal is expected to be around £21million, and on offer is a five-year contract. A meeting yesterday saw the club’s two presidents, Luis Filipe Vieira of Benfica, and Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez, agree a deal for the highly sought-after Argentinian.
Di María has been pushing for a move to Madrid, saying recently to his teammates “Boys, next season I will play for Real Madrid.”
He scored 10 goals in 45 appearances and helped guide Benfica to the Portuguese national title and the quarter finals of the Europa League. After playing a part in his country’s win in their opening World Cup match against Nigeria, he will take on South Korea this lunchtime.
