Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho believes Karim Benzema can play anywhere on pitch - La Liga news
Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has heaped praise on striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 and believes that the player’s form in the year 2011 has been phenomenal and he can now play in any position on the field.
The French international striker had a poor to start to the ongoing 2010-11 campaign and was dropped to the bench as an understudy to Gonzalo Higuain. After a season ending injury to the Argentinean, all hopes were on Benzema to lead the attack for Madrid.
He was the only recognised striker available in the squad and Mourinho gave him a lot of chances but he failed to put a commanding display and scored only a few goals in the first four months of the campaign. Since the start of year 2011, the former Lyon striker
has carried the goal scoring burden and has scored 21 goals this season so far and has also netted a couple of hat-tricks.
Mourinho, who also criticised the player for his poor performances earlier in the season, believes that the striker has reformed himself drastically.
"Everyone can see Benzema is a better player now. He's made progress because I demanded a lot from him. I asked him to have a different attitude. Before I got here, I was told he was very introverted, but from day one I saw him as a nice, intelligent young
man willing to integrate himself in the team. His problem was his obsession with becoming an important player due to the millions he cost. That's the opposite to what I thought. I told him his hard work, perseverance and conviction would make him a great player.
He's made progress since then and he now believes that is what's more important for him."
His poor performances forced Madrid to sign Manchester City striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 on loan for the rest of the campaign and it was widely thought that Benzema will be shown the exit door come the end of the season. The 23-year-old responded extremely
well to the critics and has been a dominant figure behind the success of Los Blancos since then.
