Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho says he has no interest in
England job
The current Real Madrid manager and former Chelsea, Porto and Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has officially refused to be in the running for managing the England national side.
The manager has constantly stated that he would one day return to England to be a manager in the country that he loves almost as much as his homeland. However, he has made it clear that such a return will not be with the
English national team.
Mourinho is currently only forty seven years old, which is a relatively young age for a football manager. He has won two Premier League titles with
Chelsea and a handful of Cups along the way. The manager also brought success to Inter Milan last season, something the club could not have pictured in their wildest dreams. The manager led the Italian side to their first ever treble,
which included the Italian Cup, the Italian League and the UEFA Champions League.
Earlier this season, Mourinho was offered the job of managing the Portuguese national team along with his existing post as manager of Real Madrid. However the manager denied the possibility of that being a plausible option,
since he felt that the Madrid officials might agree to the terms of the deal, but they would never be truly satisfied with the situation.
Mourinho has been the long term favorite to take over, once Fabio Capello ends his term as the
England’s manager.
Mourinho said in a recent interview: “I think national teams are:
England for the English and Portugal for the Portuguese."
"I will one day play against England with my
Portugal, but Portugal has to wait a long time."
The manager seems to have decided that a national should be the only person who has the right to manage the national team. Many would agree with the manager and some might even applaud his comments. However Mourinho has also
gone ahead and confirmed the fact that he would someday manage the Portuguese national side. This can only be taken as good news by the country and the Portuguese Football Federation. Nevertheless they will have to wait their turn to have the manager all to
themselves, since he has also said that for the time being his mind is set on club football.
